On August 6th, 2009 the Palestine Information and Communications Technology Incubator (PICTI) in cooperation with Mohammed bin Rashed Al-Maktoum Foundation organized an awareness info session about incubation and technology entrepreneurship for the benefit of Arab American University – Jenin (AAUJ) business and IT students headed by Dr. Sami Awad, the Dean of the Technology College.
Mr. Laith Kassis, PICTI General Manager, thanked Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Foundation for sponsoring this awareness campaign and developing the entrepreneurship culture in Palestine targeting the universities.
The workshops packaged the importance of the entrepreneurship culture & incubation in order to develop high impact start-up companies. Eng. Hasan Omar, Incubator Manager, presented to the students different methodologies and tools and made it available for them to become leaders with their ideas, stressing on taking a step forward in the world of incubation and becoming part of PICTI. Eng. Hasan also presented PICTI incubation processes and how that can facilitate an entrepreneur’s track of life.
Students also had the opportunity to hear first hand from a real life entrepreneur’s experience with guest speaker Mr. Hjazi Natsheh. Mr. Natsheh is a Palestinian entrepreneur currently living in Dubai, and had started his entrepreneurial adventure back in 2004. His insistence & persistence in following his ideas is paying off. He shard the students his personal ideas and explained the challenges that they might face and offered a glimpse into the entrepreneur life as part of raising the awareness about this subject matter.
Dr. Awad believes that this workshop is going to be a stepping stone for AAUJ students to become aware of and enter the world of entrepreneurship & incubation. Students were provided empowered with tools as such as Business plan templates & presentation templates to get on the right track with their ideas. These are the learners of today, potential professional entrepreneurs of tomorrow. |
